The second edition of the BECOME PV Workshop on the Future of Emerging Photovoltaics took place on 2-3 December in Brussels. The event brought together leading researchers, SMEs, industrial stakeholders and policymakers to discuss key challenges and opportunities shaping the next generation of photovoltaic (PV) technologies.
PEPPERONI partner Dyenamo featured in Session 1
Representing Dyenamo, Henrik Pettersson delivered a presentation entitled “Perovskite Chemistry for Research and Industrialisation”. He highlighted the company’s role as a long-standing supplier of high-quality materials for chemistry-based PV research and manufacturing. Drawing on a dedicated Stockholm-based synthesis team, Dyenamo supports the sector through a portfolio that spans material supply, collaborative research activities and industrial assignments.
Reflecting on the workshop discussions, Henrik underlined the importance of PEPPERONI within the European PV landscape:
“The workshop confirmed my impression that PEPPERONI is a type of project that Europe needs for the industrialisation of perovskite solar cells. It brings together academic and industrial actors across the value chain, anchored by a dedicated device manufacturer, Qcells, with the capability to industrialise the technology.”
This message aligned closely with the workshop’s central objective: accelerating the transition of emerging PV technologies from laboratory-scale innovation to scalable industrial deployment.
A collaborative platform for Europe’s PV future
Across the two-day event, participants explored pathways to scalability, improved stability and commercialisation. Panels and roundtables addressed critical questions for the sector, including:
- Opportunities for single-junction thin-film PV
- Strategies to accelerate the development of a complete European value chain
- Approaches to move from demonstration to market creation
- Whether versatility in device architectures and processing represents an advantage or a barrier
Participants and speakers from organisations including TNO, Oxford PV, Aiko Solar, Heliatek, AVANCIS, Perovskia, ASCA, Von Ardenne, Singulus, Dyenamo, ENGIE, TotalEnergies and SolarPower Europe shared perspectives on innovation, collaboration and scale-up strategies for next-generation solar technologies.
Strengthening PEPPERONI’s position in the European PV ecosystem
Dyenamo’s contribution not only showcased its technical expertise but also emphasised the strategic value of the PEPPERONI consortium in supporting Europe’s leadership in perovskite PV. The workshop provided a timely opportunity to reinforce collaborations and further align sector-wide efforts towards wide adoption.
The event closed with a strong sense of momentum and shared commitment to shaping the future of solar energy in Europe, an ambition that sits at the core of the PEPPERONI project.
