PEPPERONI co-organises a parallel event at EU PVSEC

As the PEPPERONI project approaches its conclusion at the end of October 2026, the consortium will join eight other EU-funded projects at EU PVSEC 2026 for a dedicated parallel event on “Opportunities for Sustainable Perovskite PV Commercialisation”.

Taking place on 15 September 2026 from 13:30 to 15:00, the event will bring together researchers, industry representatives and policymakers to discuss how perovskite-based photovoltaic technologies can move towards large-scale, sustainable market deployment in Europe.

The parallel event will explore the broader framework conditions needed for the commercialisation of perovskite PV. Key topics will include technology upscaling, pilot line development, manufacturing constraints, circular and sustainable value chains, Life Cycle Assessment, reliability, safety, standardisation and regulatory requirements. The discussion will also address critical gaps, lessons learned and actionable pathways to support the sustainable deployment of next-generation PV technologies.

PEPPERONI will contribute directly to the programme through two presentations. Martin Fischer from Von Ardenne will share insights on industrialisation and pilot lines, while Roberto Magnifico from the University of Liège will contribute to the session on circularity, recycling and Life Cycle Assessment. These topics reflect aspects of PEPPERONI’s four years of work on advancing silicon/perovskite tandem technology towards commercialisation.

The event will open with remarks on the landscape of perovskite PV developments in Europe, followed by a plenary talk from an end-user perspective on scaling PV technology, with a focus on sustainability, reliability, safety and operation and maintenance implications. The project presentations will then lead into a panel discussion asking: “Can perovskite PV meet EU sustainability and market requirements?”

For PEPPERONI, this parallel event will be an excellent opportunity to share key insights from the project before its final phase. It will also provide a first glimpse of several themes that will be addressed in more depth during the PEPPERONI final online event on 15 October 2026, where the consortium will present the project’s main results, achievements and perspectives for the future of tandem PVs.

More information about the PEPPERONI final event, including the programme and registration details, will follow soon.
